Tafana Caesar

Children’s book author Tafana R. Caesar’s daydreaming and vivid imagination as a child paid off later in her life. As a student who regularly won prizes for her short stories, she loved creating worlds and characters in her head and putting them to paper. This passion from childhood followed her as an adult and resulted in her new picture book Carl the Capybara: A Lesson in Stranger Danger, a vibrant and impactful story about rainforest animals and the destruction of their habitat.

Originally from South America, Tafana is troubled by the rainforest’s catastrophic depletion there due to deforestation and mining. It is her goal through her stories to teach the next generation about the quirky animals who live in the rainforest in an effort to raise awareness about conservation. With Carl the Capybara, she hopes her young readers become educated about rainforest animals and their habitat, while also learning about stranger danger in a non-scary way.

Tafana currently lives in London with her two Persian cats, Gretchen and Leo. When she isn’t writing entertaining and informative children’s books, Tafana enjoys drawing and is currently learning digital illustration. She also loves anything which involves being around water, from scuba diving to beach holidays and water sports.

Tafana is grateful to her family, particularly her father who always believed in her writing ability, for their support in her debut publishing venture with Carl the Capybara.
